Synthia Voice Assistant

This Fjord Austin project was initiated to expand the skill sets of its employees by challenging our capabilities to create a prototype that solves a problem using voice technology. Synthia was inspired by the pain points UX faces during the user/stakeholder interviewing process.

As design director, I helped the team identify our problem statement, brainstorm through ideation, and collaborate on a product definition with creative vision.

This internal project took place over three weeks. We accelerated a scrappy discovery process to uncover essential insights during that time. We began with our inquiry and moved forward with highly-focused user interviews, competitive research, paper prototyping, rapid persona development, and technical requirements.

Challenge Moment

What problem is voice technology uniquely qualified to solve?

Synthia is a smart transcription service for researchers who want to optimize the interview process and identify test subjects’ subtext using natural language processing via audio input.

Since this was an internal project in addition to client work, I needed to motivate and facilitate a team of eight to prioritize our sessions. Ask me how I helped the multi-disciplinary team explore Synthia’s potential in their free time without neglecting billable obligations.
